What is the difference between my academic advisor and my Empower Me First advisor?
Your academic advisor is able to assist you with course registration, academic curricular planning, and fruitful conversations about other interests you may have.

Empower Me First advisors can speak with you and assist you regarding anything in your relation to your transition to college life, whether personal, academic, or professional in nature. EMF advisors can NOT register you for courses—only your academic advisor can assist with that.

Examples of support services students may seek assistance with include:

  • Time management
  • Creating an academic success plan for GPA improvement
  • Applying to graduate and professional school
  • Navigating the transition to college life
