Ronald A. Hammond Scholarship

The Ronald A. Hammond Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition award that recognizes outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence and who intend to continue their academic pursuits through graduate education.  This scholarship, which honors the legacy of the University’s first director of minority affairs, is a among the premier awards offered at the University of Miami.

Hammond scholars are a diverse group of students from across the country whose varied experiences, achievements, and interests help cultivate the vibrant academic community that is the University of Miami. Many hail from underrepresented backgrounds, and some are the first in their family to graduate from a college or university. Engagement and involvement are at the heart of the Hammond scholar experience, helping to maximize their opportunities upon graduation.  These students personify UM’s commitment to excellence and diversity in the development of “future leaders of our nation and the world.”  

How to Apply

Prospective scholars are automatically considered when they apply for admission to UM under the early decision/early action deadline of November 1.  There is no separate application required to be considered for the Hammond Scholarship.
